Greg Ehnes, the owner of Springs Transmissions and Automotive, has been arrested on felony charges for theft and crimes committed against at-risk adults, Colorado Springs police confirm Thursday.
11 News first learned of Ehnes' arrest Wednesday, the day he was taken into custody, but police were not immediately forthcoming with information regarding his arrest.
11 Call for Action reporter Betty Sexton has been investigating Springs Transmissions and Automotive for months after getting reports of shoddy work and even theft from customers.
Last month, police searched the business and announced they knew of at least 22 victims. Officers told us at that time they wanted others to come forward, and that they suspected there could be upwards of 50 victims.
Deceptive business practices, car theft, motor vehicle repair violations and fraud were among the customer complaints police reported hearing.
11 News spoke with Ehnes while police were investigation. He said he was innocent, and that the fraud allegations against him were completely untrue.
"I'm very frustrated. If I do something wrong, just be straight. They're trying to frame me," Ehnes said at the time.
Ehnes admitted that some cars worked on in his shop were not properly fixed, but he says he fired the mechanics responsible and hired new help.
Police ask that anyone with complaints against Springs Transmissions and Automotive call CSPD at 444-7000.
