The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating a deputy-related shooting that took place Friday night outside of Fort Collins.

Deputies were called to a home in the 100 block of Guardian Peak Drive in Livermore, Colo. shortly before midnight after a woman called 911 to report her ex-boyfriend had arrived at her home. The woman was concerned that the man had overdosed and needed medical attention.

Before deputies arrived at the home, the woman informed them that the man had left the house and was armed with a handgun.

According to Larimer County sheriff’s deputies, when they arrived at the home, they came across a man who pointed a handgun at them. The nature of the shooting is still under investigation, but deputies say at that point two shots were fired. One by a deputy and the other by the suspect. The suspect was hit and pronounced dead at the scene.

In a tweet sent out by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, they wanted to stress that the nature of the shooting is still under investigation.

“Media reports that deputies shot killed Glacier View man are premature.” Larimer County Sheriff’s Office tweeted early Sunday morning, “Investigation has not reached a conclusion yet and is on-going.”

No one else was hurt in the shooting. The Larimer County District Attorney’s Office with the Sheriff’s Office will investigate the shooting. The suspect’s name has not been released until his family can be notified.
