A popular cereal is being recalled due to the possibility of metal fragments cooked into the food.
Kellogg's is issuing the voluntary recall on its Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size Original and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size. There have been no illness or injuries related to consumption of the cereal at this time, but customers have not been shy about their complaints, with some taking to YouTube to post videos of magnets picking up a fair amount of the cereal.
Kellogg's has apologized, but stressed in a statement to the Wall Street Journal that "the likelihood of these fragments making their way into the food is low; furthermore, the chances that any affected food will cause injury is low."
To know if you purchased the recalled cereal, check the box for the use-by date. The affected products will fall under use-by dates between April 13, 2013 and September 21, 2013. The letters KB, AP or FK will be stamped before or after the use-by date. For more information, click here. Customers can also call 1-800-962-1413 between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. MST or use the Contact Us feature on Kelloggs.com.
The recall could cost the company between $20 million to $30 million.
