A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday morning after a car ran over his legs.
Just a minute or two before the crash, State Patrol says the victim had lost control of his motorcycle and rolled off the interstate. After rolling, the victim was ejected, landing in the middle of the roadway and right in the path of the oncoming car. Troopers say the driver kept going after hitting the motorcyclist, and may have thought he or she had struck debris.
The crash, which occurred at 4:35 a.m., closed down southbound I-25 at the North Academy exit (mile marker 150) so that a medical helicopter could transport the victim to the hospital. The roadway reopened at 6:20 a.m.
Troopers are asking for anyone who saw the accident, or anyone who believes they were the driver involved, to contact State Patrol at 719-544-2424.
