Police say that after a hit-and-run accident near Colorado College, the suspect drove a half-mile away and tried to carjack three vehicles.

He was successful on the third try.

Officers say it started at the intersection of Boulder Street and Cascade Avenue in Colorado Springs around 10:20 a.m. Thursday, where the suspect crashed into another vehicle. He fled north on Cascade, then ditched his vehicle at the intersection with Cache La Poudre and twice tried to forcefully steal an occupied car.

Failing on both attempts, police say he ran further down Cache La Poudre until he came across a 47-year-old woman in a Chevy Impala. Authorities say that he aggressively forced the woman from the car and took it over. The woman was unharmed, but police are now looking for her car.

The Impala is described as silver with Utah license plate Y161-ZK. The suspect is reportedly a Hispanic man in his early 20s, dressed in all black. The vehicle he was driving at the time of the hit-and-run was a green Chrysler.

If you have any information, you are asked to call CSPD at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
