A hiker is OK after spending the night in the woods.
The hiker, who has not been identified, called Springs police around 11 p.m. Monday to report that he was near the Cutler Trail in North Cheyenne Canon, but had gotten lost. The hiker also told officers that his phone was about to die.
A search and rescue team was dispatched around 2 a.m. Tuesday. A couple of hours later, they were able to make verbal contact with him. Between 5 and 6 a.m. the team finally reached the hiker, who was in an embankment. The hiker was uninjured.
North Cheyenne Canon is located in southwest Colorado Springs near the Broadmoor and Seven Falls. Popular tourist site Helen Hunts Falls is located within the park. The Cutler trailhead is about a mile and a half away from the park's entrance.
