A driver ended up in police custody after allegedly leading authorities on a high-speed chase through Pueblo neighborhoods.
Police say it started when they got a call from witnesses reporting hearing shots on the 1700 block of Pine Street. There was apparently a group of people raising a ruckus over stolen narcotics.
When officers arrived at the scene, people were running away and a jeep was driving off.
Police say when they tried to stop the jeep, the driver sped away. Officers chased the vehicle through residential streets. At one point, the driver allegedly hit a patrol car and kept going. The pursuit finally ended when the suspect crashed into a house near Berkley and Corwin and tried to run away.
Police took two teens into custody. The driver was identified as 18-year-old Devin Nichols. Nichols faces several charges, including driving under the influence of drugs and reckless endangerment.
A spokesperson for the police department says the officer who was hit was not seriously injured.
