Authorities are investigating what caused a grass fire on the east side of the Springs overnight.

The fire started in a field early Monday morning near Powers and Zeppelin, which is just east of the Powers and Hancock intersection. Firefighters were able to extinguish it quickly.

This is the third grass fire to start near Powers in the last 24 hours, though it's unconfirmed at this time if there is any relationship between the fire Monday and the two fires Sunday in a neighborhood near Powers and Constitution. The grass fires Sunday are being treated as suspicious at this time due to their proximity to each other and the timing.

We have a crew on scene at Powers and Zeppelin now, and are working to get more information.
