Fremont County Passes Moratorium On New Medical Marijuana Businesses

One southern Colorado county now has a temporary hold on any new medical marijuana businesses, including ones that would grow pot.

Fremont County commissioners passed the 120-day moratorium Thursday. During the 120 days, they'll work to come up with regulations for medical marijuana businesses.

Susan Hildebrand with Penrose Concerned Citizens says it's past time for these regulations, especially when it comes to medical marijuana.

"What we're looking for is to preserve our quality of life in Fremont County, specifically in Penrose, we seem to have been targeted by the growers."

Hildebrand tells us her group hopes commissioners will regulate light, odor and water for all marijuana businesses.
