A storm system will begin to impact Southern Colorado by late Friday morning. Mountain locations will simply see snow, but lower elevations will see rain eventually change to snow by later Friday afternoon. Locations that are higher in elevation will see the heaviest snow, due to them seeing cooler temperatures. So, Teller County, far northwest El Paso County, and the Wet & Sangre de Cristo Mountains will likely see several inches of wet snow. The major cities will see far less amounts and the storm will exit toward early Saturday morning.
A Fort Carson soldier who recently returned from Afghanistan has been jailed on charges of sexual assault on a child and felony menacing.
Erik Jeske is accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in her Penrose home in 2010.
According to court papers obtained by 11 News, Jeske lived in the same neighborhood as the alleged victim's family.
He was visiting one night, and excused himself to go to the bathroom. About 20 minutes later, the mom reportedly found Jeske in her daughter's room.
A few days later, Jeske allegedly threatened the girl's 15-year-old stepbrother with a knife during an unrelated altercation at Jeske's home.
The incidents were not reported to the Fremont County Sheriff's Office until July 2011.
According to court papers, the girl's mom didn't come forward right away because she feared for her family's safety.
11 News has learned Jeske was deployed to Afghanistan while the investigation continued and an arrest warrant was obtained Sept. 12.
Upon Jeske's return, he was arrested by Fort Carson police on Dec. 13.
