A Fort Carson private is facing allegations of sexually assaulting a child he met online.
Springs police say Pvt. Mark Petrosky had sex with the 14-year-old victim in a parking lot at Quail Lake late last month. A Fountain police sergeant found the pair in a vehicle together.
The victim said the two texted each other for eight weeks prior to meeting at Quail Lake. They initially met on a website.
According to police, the victim told officers the sexual encounter was consensual.
A Colorado Springs officer met with the Fountain police sergeant shortly after the incident. A detective with the CSPD Crimes Against Children unit was assigned to the case at the beginning of July.
Petrosky was arrested for sexual assault on a child after the investigation was completed.
He told police the girl lied about her age, and told him she was 17-years-old.
He says their online relationship started as friendship, and then became intimate.
Petrosky is assigned to the 3rd Brigade Armored Combat Team at Fort Carson. 11 News is working to learn whether Petrosky's case is related to a larger investigation of widespread sexual misconduct allegations involving several Fort Carson soldiers.
