A former police officer took a plea deal in court Monday.

Sydney Huffman, a former Colorado Springs officer, entered a guilty plea to charges of attempting to influence a public servant. She is accused of lying to law enforcement to get her boyfriend, a fellow police officer, in trouble.

That man, Jarrott Martinez, told 11 News Huffman's accusations permanently tainted his life. The former Marine says he was living his life-long dream of becoming an officer, working for the Manitou Springs Police Department, until he had it all ripped way. Huffman had accused Martinez of repeatedly attacking her, including strangulation.

All charges against Martinez were dropped, but not before he spent seven months behind bars, lost his job and his reputation.

Huffman will be sentenced in June.
