Locally heavy rain will remain possible overnight, with any showers and storms. Areas likely to see additional heavy rain will likely be east of I-25 and along HWY 50 from Canon City eastward. 11 News has learned the identity of the man who was killed in flooding Friday night along Highway 24.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office confirms he is 53-year-old John Collins of Teller County.
Collins died along Highway 24 near mile marker 297 during the flash flood Friday night. His body was recovered from a large amount of debris which covered the westbound lanes of Highway 24. His vehicle was in the same general area but further west on Highway 24.
Officials are still working to confirm if Collins left his vehicle by choice or if the rushing water and debris forced him out.
According to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, the cause of Collins’ death is believed to be drowning
