Wednesday will offer more cloud cover and cooler temperatures. By later Wednesday afternoon, rain showers will develop across the Pikes Peak Region and slowly drift southward. Those rain showers will change to snow at higher elevations, and accumulations will be likely. At lower elevations, snow accumulation does not appear to be a big deal. Fire damaged a home in the 3300 block of Virginia Avenue in the Springs, near Fillmore and Hancock.
The homeowner called firefighters when she noticed smoke coming from her laundry room about noon Wednesday.
Fire crews got the fire out quickly. There is heavy smoke damage in the laundry room and the first floor.
Fire crews called in the Red Cross to help the woman find somewhere to stay for now.
No one was hurt. The woman was the only person living in the house. She had several pets but they all got out safely.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
