The El Paso County Sheriff's Office now believes a house fire in the eastern part of the county was the product of arson.
Early Tuesday morning, firefighters from Ellicott, Tri-County and Hanover responded to a structure fire on the 4000 block of Pipestem Drive in Ellicott. The call came in just before 3 a.m. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room.
The homeowner said he was jolted awake by noises coming from another room, and discovered the fire when he went to investigate. He and his dogs all got out safely.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 390-5555.
