You may have seen smoke and fire just before midnight Friday night, April 26. Firefighters with the Colorado Springs Fire Department were at the 900-block of Conejos Street responding to a fire at a vacant structure.
Fire crews worked to get the fire knocked down and make sure the building was vacant. They report they found a note - indicating that someone possibly lived in the building. After a search, however, they ascertained that the building was empty.
The fire was declared under control at 12:35 a.m.
No word yet on what caused the fire.
