A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. A man is dead after a fight in downtown Colorado Springs escalated into a shooting.
The killer is still on the run.
At 2:40 a.m. Sunday, as barhoppers and club-goers began to wind down their night, witnesses reported seeing a fight start outside the Circa Nightclub on South Tejon. Two shots rang out, then witnesses say the victim stumbled out behind some vehicles and collapsed. The suspected shooter got away in a car, reportedly firing three more shots as he drove away. Police have not confirmed that information.
Police say the victim is in his early 20s. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. His name has not been released pending the notification of his family.
The El Paso County coroner is now conducting an autopsy on the victim's body. If the death is ruled a homicide, it will be 22nd of 2013--the total number of homicides in the city for all of last year.
Police are asking anyone with information about what happened to call them at 444-7000 or call Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP. You do not have to give your name and you could earn a cash reward.
