A 21-year-old man is dead after his truck collided with a semi head-on.
It happened on Colorado 160 about 40 miles east of Trinidad Friday evening
Colorado State Patrol says Caleb Howard of Red River New Mexico was driving a Ford F150 in the wrong lane on Colroado 160 when he hit the semi. Deputies say Howard was going west in the eastbound lane. The semi was going east in the eastbound lane.
Howard's truck spun around and rolled. The semi went off the road and hit a guard rail.
Howard died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.
42-year-old Ty Modisette was behind the wheel of the semi. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Deputies say Modisette was wearing his seat belt. There were three other passengers in the semi. Two were taken to the hospital.
Investigators say alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The accident is still under investigation.
