Light snow/rain continue to develop along northern El Paso County, as well as wind picking up in this location. This trend will continue to extend to the south throughout the afternoon hours. Light snow accumulations and poor visibility will be possible for a time this afternoon and evening north of Colorado Springs and south/southwest of Pueblo. Blowing dust will be mostly likely on the Eastern Plains, where a Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect. Bottom-line, your Tuesday will feel (and look) a lot different than the past two days. Be prepared...
A fallen officer was honored today.
Colorado Springs Police officer Matt Tyner's mother accepted the Medal Of Valor and Police Cross awards during the ceremony.
Tyner died last July during a traffic crash while he was on his police motorcycle.
Officer Tyner spent eight years as the training academy's lead defensive instructor.
"He was great as an officer, and as an instructor here at the academy," said Mike Singles, Colorado Springs Police, "but he was an amazing person overall."
The police department's training academy named part of their building "Tyner Hall" - in memory of officer Tyner.
