PUEBLO, Colo. Colorado State Fair officials are talking with 11 News about health condition at their food stands.

Chris Wiseman, General Manager for the Colorado State Fair, said before anyone is allowed to eat at the food stands, the Pueblo County Health Department comes out and inspects the conditions.

"They actually don't let them open until they look at all the booths, see how they prepare the food. They come out almost every day and take a look," said Wiseman.

He said a big thing health inspectors are looking for is heating and cooling temperatures. Many of the vendors and restaurants have installed several thermometers throughout their workspace to avoid breaking violations.

Kevin Baker, Owner of Primetime at the Fair, has been serving at the fair for the past seven years. His business has purchased a custom freezer just to be safe. “The health department is in here, sometimes twice daily. I appreciate them because they make sure that we’re on top of it. The last thing we want to happen is someone get sick,” said Baker.

11 News spoke to Sara Gorr, a visitor to the State Fair. Gorr said she never worries about the food being unsafe to eat. "I like funnel cakes and then there's one particular booth, the Vineline booth. We've eaten there many times over the years and we can count on their food to be good," said Gorr.
