Driver Dies After Hitting Fence, Trees, Utility Pole

Police are not releasing the identity of a driver who was killed after going off the road and hitting a fence, trees, a telephone box and a utility pole.

The driver was thrown from from the vehicle. Police say a passenger was unhurt.

The accident happened just before 9:00 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of W. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. and Penrose Blvd. in Colorado Springs.

The vehicle was reportedly going northeast on W. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. just past the intersection when the driver failed to follow a bend in the road.

The driver was taken to the hospital, but died. Police have not released any information about the driver, including gender.

The family is being notified.
