Dozens Of Cars, Church Targeted By Vandals

Police are investigating a rash of vandalisms on the southwest side of Colorado Springs as a possible hate crime.

The vandals hit the 1600 block of South Corona, which is near South Nevada and Brookside.

11 News talked to a number of victims and they tell us they don't feel targeted because so many different types of people were affected by the vandals. They are happy police are thoroughly investigating every angle.

The vandals spray painted houses, cars and even a church sign.

Darlene Dudley's car was tagged with hateful messages in blue spray paint. She tried to get the words off with soap and water, WD-40 and nail polish remover, nothing worked.

She took her car to a shop where she learned it would cost her $200- $500 to get it removed. When she got home there was a letter from Colorado Springs Police Code Enforcement officers saying they would remove the graffiti from her vehicle for free.


A least two dozens cars, a couple of houses and a church sign were all tagged with graffiti sometime in the early hours of Monday morning. Police first began receiving calls at 3:17 a.m.

If you are a victim of this crime or have any information about it, you are asked to call police at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
