A Denver police officer has been convicted of sexual assault and kidnapping of a female arrestee.
The Denver Post reports a jury Tuesday found 33-year-old Hector Paez guilty. Prosecutors accused Paez of driving the woman to a secluded spot and forcing her to perform oral sex in March 2010.
Paez claimed that he took the woman to a secluded location to question her about a drug dealer. Paez grasped his head and said, "I don't understand," when the verdict was read.
The woman has a criminal history that includes drug use and a prostitution conviction. Paez's defense attorney Gary Lozow says he will appeal.
