State patrol is investigating a deadly accident that happened on Highway 24 and Judge Orr.
Troopers say a Chevy Suburban was traveling west on Highway 24 when the driver swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a Kia head on.
The driver of the Kia, a 68-year-old woman from Peyton, died.
Colorado State Patrol has identified the driver of the Suburban as 68-year-old Gene Schroeder of Colorado Springs.
Troopers say Schroeder had be cut from her SUV and was taken to the hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. No one else was in the vehicles.
Troopers say because it involves a vehicle swerving into oncoming traffic, they are looking at possible factors like distracted driving or if driver fell asleep. They say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
