A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
A group of customers helped stop a man who allegedly tried to steal cash from a register at King Soopers.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. at the store on Fillmore.
11 News anchor Dianne Derby was there, and says a cashier was in the middle of checking out a customer when a man pushed the cashier out of the way.
The cashier told Derby that the man grabbed cash and tried to run, but the cashier put his arms around the man and several customers jumped on top of him.
Police say the man, identified as Joseph Grimmig, was taken into custody. He's been booked into the county jail on a robbery charge. Records indicate he's still in custody as of Monday morning.
No one was hurt in the incident.
