A small grass fire started Saturday afternoon east of Colorado Springs near Highway 94 and South Franceville Coal Mine Road.
An El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said flames were spotted in a creek bed behind the Isaak Walton Range west of Schriever Air Force Base.
El Paso County deputies were initially called to the scene to assist with evacuations if necessary. At about 4:45 p.m. Lt. Jeff Kramer told 11 News that the fire was in the mop-up phase, and law enforcement had cleared the scene.
About three to five acres burned.
