Colorado Springs fire crews tell us a fire in a home is now out. It started in a vacant home on Cheyenne Boulevard near Cresta Road.
Investigators say the fire was an accident, caused by a floor furnace that was in the home.
The home is being remodeled, and fire crews say construction materials inside were making the fire harder to fight.
It started just after 5 a.m. Wednesday. No injuries have been reported.
Heavy smoke in the area forced the closure of Cheyenne Blvd. from Sumner to May to Ridgeway.
CSFD wants to remind our community that you should have your furnace inspected annually and change your filters every month.
The streets have since reopened.
