Computer Scam Hitting Southern Colorado

As you log onto your computers today, a southern Colorado woman is warning us all about a computer scam hitting our area.

On Sunday, Pam Devereux turned her laptop on to log onto the Black Forest Community Club calendar when it suddenly turned off.

When it came back on, she was looking at a page that informed that she needed to pay $200 or else her information would be turned over to local authorities for accessing a child porn directory.

She realized it was a scam, but admits at first look it seemed real.
The crooks even use an FBI logo.

" I thought okay, something's wrong here," Devereux said. "That's when I got to thinking the FBI doesn't blackmail people and that's what this is."

You should always remember authorities won't contact you by email and they will not demand cash.
