An man reportedly obsessed with the mass shootings at Columbine and Virginia Tech, as well as the horrifying abduction and murder of a 10-year-old girl, will be in federal court Monday on charges of threatening the president of the United States.
According to court records, Mitchell Kusick was placed in a mental hospital late last month after he told his therapist that he wanted to open fire on students at a Halloween event at Standley Lake High School in Westminster. He also told her that he wanted to go down in history as "the guy who killed Obama." The president was scheduled to make a campaign visit to Boulder just days after Kusick made that remark. The therapist called police.
Prior to speaking with his therapist, Kusick allegedly took a shotgun from his aunt's house and tried to buy ammunition.
Court records go on to say that Kusick told investigators he studied the Aurora theater shooting, and analyzed what the gunman did wrong.
Kusick has identified himself as a student at Colorado Mesa University.
