For the first time since 1996, an automaker is challenging a federal order to recall its vehicles.
Chrysler is refusing a request to recall almost three million SUVs.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says the gas tank is faulty and unsafe.
They're referring to Jeep Liberties made between 2002 and 2007.
But Chrysler says the tank design in those SUVs is common and it's used in a lot of other vehicles.
