A student at Carson Middle School has died after being found unresponsive in a school bathroom Friday.
The school was on lockdown Friday while emergency personnel responded. The student was transported to Evans Hospital, where the district says he was pronounced dead.
Fort Carson Public Affairs released the following statement Saturday morning:
Fort Carson is saddened by the loss of one of our young Family members, a student at Carson Middle School. This is a tragedy for our community and our thoughts and prayers are
With the student's Family and friends. Counselors are being made available to assist students during this difficult time.
There is no danger or threat to the community at this time.
A thorough investigation is being completed into the events surrounding yesterday's tragedy.
Fountain-Fort Carson District 8 also sent out the following statement:
The Fountain-Fort Carson School District community is saddened by a tragedy that took place at Carson Middle School early Friday afternoon, February 14th. An 8th grade student was found unresponsive in one of the school's restrooms. The student was rushed to Evans Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Our deepest condolences go out to the family, the friends, the staff and the Fountain-Fort Carson community for this loss.
