Updated: 05/14/2013 - I'm still focused on meeting my goal of doing a pull-up. And I'm almost there! But I'm always getting this question:
While driving in rural Colorado in the middle of the night, a Dodge Durango collided with a semi, killing the Durango's driver and injuring the other driver.
The accident occurred at 2 a.m. on Colorado 40 near mile marker 438.
According to Colorado State Patrol, the Durango, while heading westbound, drifted into the eastbound lane and into the path of the oncoming Peterbilt semi-tractor. Though the semi's driver tried swerving to avoid the collision, the Durango's front left side still crashed into the side of the semi. The force of impact sent both vehicles off the road.
The semi's driver, 42-year-old Shane Carr, was transported to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
The driver of the Durango, a 28-year-old man, died at the scene. His name has not been released.
State troopers say both men involved were wearing their seat belts.
Speeding, alcohol and drug use are currently not considered factors in the accident.
