Updated: 05/14/2013 - I'm still focused on meeting my goal of doing a pull-up. And I'm almost there! But I'm always getting this question:
Police in Cañon City say they will have an increased presence at schools after a student made threats to hurt himself.
Harrison Middle School officials told police the 13-year-old boy had threatened a teacher, but the boy denies that. He says he was going to hurt himself.
The boy was charged with interfering with an educational institution and menacing. He was returned to his parents and will not be able to go back to school for now.
Police say the incident was talked about on Facebook and other social media outlets within an hour. Many of the reports were distorted. Police say because of rumors they will have an increased presence in area schools until the Christmas break.
Fremont County Sheriff’s Office deputies and police with the Florence Police Department will also step up their presence at local schools.
