Two murder suspects, both Fort Carson soldiers, are making their first appearance in court Friday morning.
The first suspect, Staff Sgt. Christopher Mountjoy, 30, of Fountain, was arrested last Friday night for murder in the first degree. Wednesday, a second suspect, John Anthony Burrell, 27, of Colorado Springs, was transferred to police custody by Fort Carson. He also faces charges of first-degree murder.
Both men are accused of being involved in the shooting death of Virgil Means outside the Sin City Disciples motorcycle clubhouse on the 600 block of W. Vermijo.
Means was in a fight outside the building on March 3. He and his friend were driving away from the area as several shots were fired at their vehicle. One struck Means.
The victim's friend, who was driving, immediately drove to Penrose Main Hospital and dropped him off. Means died 10 minutes later.
Police were notified of the shooting by hospital staff. Once the friend of the victim, now considered a witness, was located, police gathered enough information to obtain a search warrant for the clubhouse.
Officers have determined the shooting took place between the clubhouse and the intersection of W. Vermijo and Chestnut.
Both suspects are being held in the CJC without bond.
