Motorcycle Club Shooting Suspects In Court

Two murder suspects, both Fort Carson soldiers, are making their first appearance in court Friday morning.

The first suspect, Staff Sgt. Christopher Mountjoy, 30, of Fountain, was arrested last Friday night for murder in the first degree. Wednesday, a second suspect, John Anthony Burrell, 27, of Colorado Springs, was transferred to police custody by Fort Carson. He also faces charges of first-degree murder.

Both men are accused of being involved in the shooting death of Virgil Means outside the Sin City Disciples motorcycle clubhouse on the 600 block of W. Vermijo.

Means was in a fight outside the building on March 3. He and his friend were driving away from the area as several shots were fired at their vehicle. One struck Means.

The victim's friend, who was driving, immediately drove to Penrose Main Hospital and dropped him off. Means died 10 minutes later.

Police were notified of the shooting by hospital staff. Once the friend of the victim, now considered a witness, was located, police gathered enough information to obtain a search warrant for the clubhouse.

Officers have determined the shooting took place between the clubhouse and the intersection of W. Vermijo and Chestnut.

Burrell was previously arrested in connection with a home invasion in October of 2011.

Both suspects are being held in the CJC without bond.

I know the family very of Virgil very well and for someone to say the "if he would have kept his mouth shut or wasn't getting smart,he would still be alive".How stupid is that? So it's ok to rob, beat and kill someone over a comment? I don't feel bad for any of them or the ones that think that they won't get caught..your day is coming...you can run(of course)but you can't hide.

Both of these guys are innocent until proven guilty, so i will hold my comments about what they are accused of doing until their days in court are over. This is another sad case of bad Military members making good Military members look bad. I say Military because Sin City and Street Soldiers (SS) both have a lot of Army and AirForce members in their wanna be gangs. I was at a the mall a few weeks ago in CS and noticed some Sin City and SS hanging around trying to intimidate some young people. I just laughed at them because most of them are old men 35 and up and when I say up i mean some of these guys are retired Military after 20 years and have kids in college. A few of them work as SL's in the WTU, work as gate guards for the various Military installations around CS and one is on the All Army team who went to the Olympics. I bet all of them are now looking over their shoulder wondering when CID or OSI will be knocking on their doors or investigating their career to see what affiliation they have with these kiddy MC gangs. This has been a long time coming and it all started with SS and it's going to end with Sin City. I hope the Military and Police Departments uphold the standards and shut these wanna be MC clubs down.

I agree with uphold the standards. I was once apart of SS and seen first hand how they conduct business. They jockey for position in their silly club and try to intimidate people. I also witnessed first hand when the so called Olympic wrestler almost beat a man to death inside a club for no reason. The SS threathened people with bodily harm so no one ever told the police what really happened. I'm lucky to have good people in my life who convinced me to get out of SS. As for Sin City they are a knock off club trying to be something they are not. I too know the gate guards, WTU members, EX postal workers, wanna be Olympic Wrestler and various other old people in Sin City and SS, so with that being said they too will be on the chopping block as well as the two in jail. Hopefully the Commanding Generals of the various Military installations in/around CS will demand a full investigation of everyone associated with these clubs.

You didn't see the irony in that before you wrote on here? Isin't that the pot calling the kettle black? It's called Freedom of Speech you bunghole! Anywho, now for my two cents. I believe as a man there will be times in your life where you get in a scuffle or two. It just sickens me when people get shot over some horribly dumb $#!^ like this. I remember my first beer. These two definately need to be removed from society...

I remember when we were in Iraq Burrel disappeared for a week or so. When I saw him again he retold me a story I was already aware of, that his tank commander his first tour didn't clear his .50 Cal. While they lowered the gun into the tank the butterflies hit the seat and took off his loaders head while he was climbing out of the driver's hole. He had been in Germany testifying against that TC and the man was found guilty of murder. John Bedo is a good guy, no angel but good guy the type of guy the entire FOB knew because of his personallity. Hell our second tour he was our customs inspector for the entire battlion, which goes to show how highly he was though of amung not only his peers but his higher ups. I hope this isn't true, I hope it was somebody else, god bless the man who passed away but I do hope it was somebody else.

Good Guy?????Are you mad? He was on bond for Armed robbery on an innocent woman, forcing his way into her home by gunpoint. His superiors should be repremanded as well. He was on bond for multiple felonies. What the hell was he doing off base? They are just as guilty for their neglegence.

You don't understand he was a good guy....that you didn't trust around your check book. He knew everybody connected everywhere with everyone. His superiours our second tour together in Iraq trusted him to be incharge of the battlion customs detail. Trust me I KNOW all about John Burrel and his troubles with the law but when you're going out the wire with the guy somethings get thrown out the window Anonymous BTW grow a pair and attach a name to your comments this is just the internet

It's called Freedom of the Press, and Anon is right; all comments are reviewed prior to posting. It's your manic (perhaps feigned?) indignation that's truly "discusting" (seriously?).

Sleeping with one another girls, having strip shows with some nasty looking females, screwing in bathrooms...just nasty. You get on here and act like you bad. Wow...that was someone's friend, child, or brother and just because he wasn't apart of your group he ain't nothing? Wow...all I have to say. If you don't like CO that much..leave.

your lack of education is reflected in your post. Poor spell, lack of grammar, and some truly ignorant statements. As far as your Obama statement, you must be one of that many who voted for him simply because of the color of his skin, and not his actual record and ideology.

I do not blame the military in any way....These men acted on their accord as they chose to participate in these acts. They made the decision to actively be a part of a group outside the service. War is not to blame, soldiers are not to blame. This falls on individual responsibility and choosing to make bad decisions. Now even more families suffer, including those military Families, and the soldiers who were unfortunate enough to be under their command.
