Hooked - (Stacia Naquin)
Updated: 10/11/2013 - I'm SO CLOSE to being able to do a pull-up. So my trainer introduced something new into my training.
Local business owners are reaching out to the community. They say burglars hit them hard and they want the crooks caught.
One of the business owners say a burglar broke into one of the stores in the outlet shopping plaza off North Academy and North Carefree around 3 a.m. Monday morning.
Then they used sledgehammers to make holes in the walls to get into two others businesses.
They stole electronics and cash before getting to their alleged target, a business called Post Time. It’s a greyhound and horse racing off-track betting parlor.
The crook let two others inside and they stole two safes that were bolted down. One was filled with 30 thousand dollars cash.
"This time their reward was a little bigger, but we will also try to make a bigger reward in bringing that to justice,” said Donny Talton, Post Time Owner.
Talton says the burglars then coordinated with possibly a few other suspects, before they went out the back door, cut a hole in the fence, and pushed the safes away on dollies.
Around 1:30 a.m. the phone lines were cut to their entire business complex, and even affected several other businesses.
The burglaries didn’t start until about 3 a.m. and started at Montage Salon where they lost hundreds of dollars in a safe. Then Peak Nutrition was hit and lost less than $500 and some computer equipment. Post Time also lost $2,000 in electronics.
Talton thinks the burglars knew what they were doing.
"In order for someone to have as much information as they had, they obviously had to be in communication with someone that's in here on a weekly basis, if not a daily basis,” said Talton.
Post Time’s loss not only affects the business, but their franchise owner Arapahoe Park, and race tracks across the country that simulcast through Post Time and lost their portion of the wagering made there over the weekend.
Talton also feels for other businesses affected.
“It affects everyone, it complicates things for everyone. It's just sad and that we're in a place in our economy right now that this stuff if becoming more common than work,” said Talton.
The business is collecting thousands of dollars in reward money for anyone who can help solve this crime.
