More than a thousand votes will be cast Thursday as the Boy Scouts National Council decides whether to allow openly gay members.
About 1,400 members of the national council are in Texas for the vote. The vote follows months of debate among interest groups and within the organization itself.
If the policy is approved, it will only allow gay scouts. The ban on openly gay adult leaders will still be upheld.
The results of the vote are expected Thursday afternoon.
