A Springs father faces charges of child abuse after police say he left his 1-year-old alone in a hot car in a busy parking lot.
Police say someone spotted the child locked in a vehicle at the Citadel Mall Thursday around noon and called authorities.
After getting the baby out of the car, firefighters tested the temperature of the car seat and found that it was 114 degrees. It's unknown how long the baby was in there before the person who called in the complaint saw him.
The father returned to his car about 40 minutes after his child was rescued. Police spokeswoman Barbara Miller says he was taken to the CJC.
The child is expected to be fine.
