A couple of leads turned into dead ends for Manitou police Monday as they continue their search for the final missing person from the August 9th flood.
Three people went missing Friday night as water rushed into Manitou Springs, spilling into numerous homes and businesses. As of Monday morning, one person remained unaccounted for. That woman was last seen near the 100 block of Canon Avenue clinging to a tree above the swelling creek.
Monday afternoon, Manitou Springs police received a call from a woman who believed she may be the missing person. Police are interviewed her and determined that she was not the person they were looking for.
Earlier Monday, Penrose Hospital told 11 News that they had a flood victim under their care, who had been rescued from the water Friday. A spokesperson with the Manitou Springs Police Department says the woman originally thought she was the missing person, but officials have determined that she went into the water at a different location than the woman police are looking for.
Police say they still do not know who the woman is. They ask that anyone with information on her identity or whereabouts call authorities immediately.
11 News is remaining in contact with police, and will update this story as we get more information.
