A witness to a suspected DUI accident said she took the keys away from the driver so that he could not get away.
The witness told Pueblo police that the driver of a BMW hit the front of a Ford Ranger. They said she pointed out the driver, who was later identified as as Faviel Atayde. Police said she told them that he was drunk and that he tried to leave the scene, but she took the keys out of the ignition.
The accident happened on Blue Spruce Drive in Pueblo just after 2 a.m. Sunday. Blue Spruce is near W. Northern Ave and Siena Drive.
The arresting officer said that Atayde admitted to driving drunk and that he hit the truck because he was not paying attention.
Atayde is facing multiple charges including driving under the influence, careless driving, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, not having a registration car and driving under restraint.
