A storm system will begin to impact Southern Colorado by late this morning. Mountain locations will simply see snow, but lower elevations will see rain eventually change to snow by later this afternoon. Locations higher in elevation will see the heaviest snow, due to colder temperatures. So then, Teller County, far northwest El Paso County, and the Wet & Sangre de Cristo Mountains will likely see several inches of wet snow. The major cities will see far less snow and the storm will exit toward early Saturday morning.
Authorities are searching for an arsonist who escaped from the state psychiatric hospital this weekend.
Forty three year old Edward Benge fled from the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo on Saturday night.
Even though he had escaped once before, he was considered a low
risk and allowed to walk across the hospital's unfenced grounds.
Benge set fire to a Colorado Springs bar in 1990 after being thrown out. The fire killed a man sleeping upstairs.
He has admitted faking his way into the hospital by telling psychiatrists he saw monsters and heard voices. Records show his symptoms disappeared after he was admitted.
