(Grand Junction-AP) -- Colorado Senator Wayne Allard and Denver lawyer Tom Strickland met in a debate Saturday night in their race for the U.S. Senate.

They differed sharply on abortion, health care and corporate reform in the joint appearance at Club 20 on Colorado's western slope.

Strickland said Allard voted repeatedly against prescription drug benefits and added the government needs to fix the system. But Allard said he voted against prescription drug bills because sponsors refused to limit lawsuits, which he said are contributing to the high cost of health care.

Allard is seeking a second term and Strickland is trying to unseat him.
