A report by the nonprofit group, Center for Security Policy, says 2 of the state's public pension funds have invested in companies with ties to terrorist-sponsoring states.
The report says the Fire and Police Pension Association of Colorado invested $150 million in such countries and the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association invested about $2.8 billion.
Both funds say the issue is complicated and their primary responsibility is to protect members' assets.
