Fire investigators say a flying firework started a fire at a Pueblo home.
The fire started a little before 11 p.m. Monday on West 12th Street.
Fire officials say it was contained to mostly one room and part of the outside of the home.
Investigators say a flying firecracker caught an outside sofa on fire, and it spread to the interior. "I remember hearing boom .. boom .. boom," said homeowner Deidra Chavez. "Then I heard a knock at the door and my neighbor told me the house was on fire."
Chavez tells 11 News she and her kids are without a home. She hopes police will find those responsible for the stray firecracker. "The 4th of July is over already," said Chavez with tears streaming down her face. "There's a reason why there is a day for that."
Chavez looked around one of the rooms gutted by the flames and said, "Just look at this," before covering her eyes.
No injuries were reported, but some residents were treated for smoke inhalation.
