America's Fight Against Terrorism

(Boulder-AP) -- A star of the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics says
the attack by Palestinians on Israeli athletes was the beginning of
an era in terrorism.
Olympic marathon champion Frank Shorter, now an attorney living
in Boulder, says it was the first major international attack by
terrorists on an entity or a culture.
During the attack, eleven Israeli athletes, coaches and
officials were killed by eight Palestinian terrorists.
With Americans struggling to live in a world changed by the
September eleventh terrorist attacks, it was natural that many
would recall the horror of the attack in Munich 30 years ago
tomorrow.
At Munich, organizers spent two (m) million dollars on security.
For the 2004 Athens Summer Games, organizers have budgeted more
than 600 (m) million dollars.
