Prisoner Abuse Hearing

A judge in the pretrial hearing of a soldier accused of abusing Iraqi prisoners has called a recess. The recess in a hearing Saturday for Private Lynndie England came without a ruling on whether high-placed government officials will have to testify.

The judge says she'll have to review defense requests to call
numerous military officers as well as Vice President Dick Cheney
and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. The judge did not say when the Article 32 hearing for England will resume.

The hearing in North Carolina is being held to determine whether
England, a 21-year-old Army reservist, should face a court martial
on charges related to photos showing naked prisoners. England's defense team includes lawyers from Colorado.
