The Air Force Academy Falcons have named an alumnus to take over as the school's director of athletics. On Thursday, Superintendent Lieutenant General John Rosa selected Dr. Hans J. Mueh as the new A.D. He replaces Randy Spetman, who retired from active duty in January.
Mueh is the first to hold the position of athletics director as a civilian, and is the ninth A.D. in Academy history. Mueh graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1966 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. While attending the
Academy, he was a two-year letterwinner in soccer as a goalie.
He still holds the Academy record for saves in a game with 30--a feat he accomplished twice in 1965, against North Carolina and Benedictine.
Mueh will begin his duties on Monday.
