A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell is making history. The Colorado Republican is only member of Congress who makes jewelry. And he's about to become the only person in Congress to have a solo art show at the Smithsonian Institution.
At age 71, Campbell's work will be on display when the Smithsonian opens its National Museum of the American Indian in September.
Campbell is leaving office early next year after two terms in the Senate. He's served in the state Legislature and in Congress since 1983, but he's been making jewelry since 1946. Back then, the Campbell family traded its jewelry for basic needs such as food.
Campbell says after he retires, he will take it easy for a while, but he says he has too much energy to keep that up for long. He plans to ride his Harley-Davidson and take on consulting and
