On average, workers walked nearly 6700 steps per day when they wore casual clothing. That's compared to the 6200 steps taken in more formal attire. The difference translates into 25 extra calories burned a day, which leads to nearly 2 pounds lost in a year. That's also the amount of weight the average American gains if he does nothing at all.
Researchers say the additional comfort may cause people to move around more.
