Police are searching for at least one suspect, who may have fired gunshots at them while they were on patrol early Sunday morning.
The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. on the southeastern side of Colorado Springs, near Murray and Galley.
"We had some officers at the 700 block of N. Murray and they heard some shots fired," said Lt. Patricia Feese with the Colorado Springs Police.
Moments later, police saw a yellow H2 Hummer truck drive by them, southbound on Murray.
"As that vehicle passed them, they thought they heard another shot," said Lt. Feese.
Police thought the shots were aimed at them. No one was hurt. The officers tried to pull the Hummer over, but during the pursuit, the SUV tried to hit one of the officers.
Cops eventually lost sight of the Hummer near Fountain and Circle.
An investigation is in full swing. Police are looking at evidence from the scene, including some shell casings that were recovered. They are also looking for that yellow Hummer truck. One thing is certain, police say this case is a reminder how dangerous an officer's job can be.
"We have to be really cognizant of our officer’s safety, be aware of our surroundings and so that way we can keep not only our officers safe, but the citizens as well," said Lt. Feese.
Right now it's unclear what charges the suspect or suspects might face.

Maybe it's just me and my crazy common sense but why don't they search the records of the DMV for people that own a yellow H2. I think with all the driving I do around Colorado Springs, I've seen all 10 of them that exist here.
