False Alarm Sounded in Canon City
A mistake by a Canon City Police dispatcher resulted in a 911 alert going out to area residents.

A police training exercise in Canon City went a bit wrong Thursday with a 911 alert being sent out by mistake.
As part of the exercise a female inmate was reported to have escaped from the jail. A dispatcher who was supposed to send out a training alert was on the wrong channel and the 911 alert went to area residents.
The mistake was quickly rectified and there was never any danger to the public.
